Work With Me
I know what it's like to want to write a novel, to dream of being a published author and see your book on a bookshop shelf. You imagine clicking on Amazon and seeing your book with an orange Best Seller flag. Or opening a national newspaper or magazine and reading a review of a story your wrote .
I've experienced all of those things and they were more amazing than I ever dared to imagine.

- I won the Good Housekeeping First Novel Competition.
- I won the East Anglian Book Award 2020 for Fiction.
- The Choice was reviewed in The Times, SFX, Daily Express, The Sun, Inside Soap.
- The Choice was Good Housekeeping Book of the Month.
- It was also The Times Audiobook of the Week.
I've had success beyond my wildest dreams, but it wasn't just luck or an accident.
I've worked hard and learnt a lot.
- I've gone from having the vague dream of wanting to write a novel to finishing my first draft.
- I've learnt that the first draft is just the start, then comes editing and that's a skill in itself.
- I've spent hundreds of thousands of hours writing, re-writing and revising my work.
- I've transformed my writing from a rough manuscript to an award winning novel.
I want to help you do the same.
I can't write your book for you but I can talk you through the process, share my experiences and cheer-lead you from the sidelines.
- Stuck on the plot? We can chat through ideas - an outside perspective really helps spark inspiration.
- Full of doubt? I can share what worked for me and the tips and tricks I'm still using (sorry, the doubt doesn't go away once you're published, you just get more skills to cope with it).
- Need someone to believe in you? I can do that. It's tough carrying a dream alone and being a writer is a lonely business, so get some support from someone who knows what it's like.
What I can do for you...
I do one-to-one sessions via Zoom or over the phone. We'll talk about where you're at, what you want to achieve and figure out what you can go away and do to move your writing forward.
A one-off hour session
Focused, concise, perfect if you have a small hurdle that's getting in the way of your progress.
It's also a great way to see if you want to work with me for a longer period.

Praise
Claire has a magical gift of looking at a scene or a story and knowing what it needs. She’s able do make suggestions without being married to them (so I could take them or leave them, though it was always better if I took them!) I’ve had the honor of writing with Claire for years now, and my writing is all the better for it!
